negative points suck... I'd like to add in points for my WR running back the ball on kickoffs/punts. "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum

No to negative points. A missed kick is just a missed opportunity for points, the same as getting stuffed on fourth and goal. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle

Anyone with artistic skills is free to design a PCFFL trophy to replace the current default one. Same with any annual league awards we may decide on. |

No negative points please, I have enough trouble staying out of last place. |

Negative points for m0nty. |

Possible Leinart trade to the Giants? They should try and trade him to the Titans so he can back up VY. |
They should trade him to a division rival so he can lose to Vince Young twice a year. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle

Fuck Matt Leinart. 52 Weeks and Something's On Movie Blog
Hey, at least you're dumping your overpayed QB bust and moving on. Ours is still around, taking up space. Maybe the sixth year's the charm! On the other hand, Derek Anderson. Yeesh. Since Warner is being emphatic that he's no Brett Favre, maybe you should give Jeff Garcia a call. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle
He won't go to the Giants. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
Torn MCL for Byron Leftwich. Steelers to make a move for Leinart now? |
Bah, Leftwich will still play. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle

Lienart dropped like an std. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
Anyway, the schedule in the PCFFL looks a little off, each team is paying 6 games in the first week. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.

Draft day, don't forget about draft day! |
When is it again? |
6 EDT 3 PDT 7 ADT! |
So I missed the draft, being out doing school supply shopping and all. We promise ourselves we're not going to do it last minute each year that we do it...and yet, we still end up doing it last minute each year. :D Other than having four kickers, doesn't look to bad. Here's hoping Adrian Peterson can hold on to the ball and Romo has the year of his life! "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum
Damn I missed the draft, I was stuck on the road, driving. Still auto picker didn't screw me too bad, only one kicker and one defense, so I guess the time spend endlessly dragging kickers towards the bottom of the list in that horrible interface was worth it. Currently my team is heavily BAL, ATL, and PHI based, which makes me a little nervous. A few receiver battles where I own both sides of an uncertain pecking order (DeSean Jackson vs. Maclin, Housh vs. Mason). A number of people who had down years last year, but have a decent chance of bouncing back. Anyway, in a ten team league there will probably be more depth on the waiver wire, so we'll see what I end up with. |
So you didn't rank Ray Rice high? I drafted after you and wanted him and the fucking auto picker took him even though he wasn't the highest person at the time (either overall or for RBs). <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
I did, I definitely did some rearranging before the draft, especially near the top, and I certainly don't mind having him given who was off the board. What worries me is having him, and Flacco, and T.J, and Mason, all from the same team; a team not traditionally known for their offensive firepower. That I probably wouldn't have done. If I was there live I might have considered getting Tom Brady instead with the way QBs were going, but getting Flacco all the way in the seventh round seems like a decent "value." |
I'm mostly happy with my picks. |
Well, I hope Gore turns out better than Rice. :P That'll learn you to be driving on draft day. I wonder if anyone will consider throwing the first game to get first in the waiver wire to see any breakout stars. Sush, jj, you took the Jets D in the first round. I'm liking my team as much as you can like a draft team pre-week one. Naturally this means it'll end up stinking. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
So I had five kickers and three TEs...when does the waiver wire start? "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum
Ah roboraper, the true harbinger of football season. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle

My first string isn't horrible, thankfully, but my second string is non existant. Sleeper players and extras ftw...hopefully. "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum
Sush, jj, you took the Jets D in the first round. I did not. Second round. |
I wonder what the statistical benefit of drafting live vs robodrafting is. I bet it's significant. I don't think it's a conincidence that there were only two people drafting live in the first half of the round, and only one robodrafter in the second half. "I hope you one day decide to smarten the fuck up so I can stand to look at your posts." - gaggle
So I had five kickers and three TEs...when does the waiver wire start? Tomorrow at 2 AM Eastern. Get your claims in now! |
I don't need the waiver wire, yet, but I did make one change to my lineup. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
Anyone care to do a quick draft analysis before the season starts? Eggy or Cheesy? |
He already analyzed my draft and it made me feel bad. |
The Armchair will be reappearing this season, don't worry. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.

Not sure whether to start Moreno, Knowshon or Jones, Jacoby this week.... So many questions, so little data! "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum
If you can't figure it out, I'm sure lwf can help by making a trade offer. |
Actually, the Assistant GM suggested I trade him to lwf for some other RB that seemed ludicrous to me. Ludicrious for lwf that is. I didn't pay much attention to the Broncos last year and I know that the Colts defense stinks on pass defense. Not to mention Moreno is hurtish... "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum
Also, it suggests I drop Patrick Crayton. Time shall tell. "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum
And now I have Kevin Kolb and Vince Young as my backup QBs... May one of them play decent this year! "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum
The assistance GM told me to drop all my players and pick up scrubs. I think Trunks is behind this. |
Anyone care to do a quick draft analysis before the season starts? Eggy or Cheesy? I can certainly prattle on about it, even though I wasn't there. Here's a bunch of stuff that will seem really funny ten weeks from now: Rounds 1-2: A run on QBs early as usual, seven teams got their starter in the first two rounds. Given our scoring system it makes sense, and for whatever reason they don't seem to bust as much as RBs and WRs. Still a lot of depth at the position though, given only ten will play each week. Even though RBs were still popular, they seem as a whole shakier then ever. The only "sure things" are CJ and AP. MJD would usually be included but he has a mystery injury that may or may not be something. By the last pick of round two we're already picking a rookie (although one in an ideal situation). Interesting picks: Cmon...WTF Jeremy. Sorry to pile on, but as a rule of thumb defense shouldn't be drafted that high, just because no one has any idea before the season starts who will be the best defense, and really the difference between the #1 and #10 defense isn't that much. Last year the Saints were top three most of the year, and I picked them up off the waiver wire. If the Jets are the best defense by a mile then you'll show us, but I'm betting another team emerges. Victoria picking Schaub seems slightly early, but more on injury concern then performance. Rounds 3-6: A run on RBs and WRs, as we see the tier 2 WRs available and people try to snap up a RB before getting in to RB platoon situations. The first TEs get taken in round 4, another position that apparently has a lot of depth. First kicker gets taken in round 6 via autopicker (which is why I spent so much time dragging kickers to the bottom of my rankings). Interesting picks: Carson Palmer at the end of round 4 seems like a reach, yes he had that one good year, but so did Derek Anderson. He has receivers now, but I'll believe it when I see it. Pierre Thomas seem high, just because of the RB shuffle they tend to do in NO, lots of touchdown vulture potential from Reggie Bush. Larry Fitzgerald was probably impossible to pass up at the end of round three, but with the potentially shaky QB situation it's a gamble. As a former owner of both it's amusing seeing "other" Steve Smith officially got drafted before actual Steve Smith, which makes sense given how much more consistent "other" has been. Javid Best is an interesting high risk/reward round five (auto)pick. Round 7-9: Shaky RB territory, but interesting WR and QB picks. Autokickerpalooza begins in earnest. Interesting picks: WELKAH seems like a steal at the end of round seven, even if he's coming back from a serious knee issue. Crabtree in round 8 looks pretty good as well, even with injury concerns. I like the autopicker getting Flacco for me in r7, I had him right behind Romo personally, though I probably could have taken Welker instead and still gotten Flacco in r8. Vincent Jackson is going to miss a bunch of games, but could potentially put up big numbers when he finally gets out there. Rounds 10-13: QBs with questions, RBs that slipped through the cracks, and second option WRs. Poor Poulsbo got three kickers in a row. Interesting Picks: I know everyone hates him and he's bound to drop off, but Favre was mostly starter worthy last year, interesting to see him drop so far again (and finally got picked by the autopicker). McNabb and Kolb are question marks, but both have high upside (not sure why I had Cutler ranked ahead of them, Mike Martz I guess?). C.J. Spiller was the hot rookie sleeper getting drafted too high this year, except we apparently didn't get the message. He had a great preseason, was just named the starter, and his backups have nagging injuries. Similarly Justin Forsett looks entrenched in Seattle's starting job, which is more then you can say for a bunch of RBs taken ahead of him (Beanie Wells, Brandon Jacobs, etc.). Sims-Walker broke out last year, and is probably starter quality barring injury, but went mostly unnoticed because he plays for the Jags. Santana Moss and Bernard Berrian seem like good gambles to take late, inconsistent starters with circumstances that might lead to big games. Chris Cooley in r11 seems like a good value. Rounds 14-16: Nothing too exciting, kickers, defenses, backups. Interesting picks: Nate Burlson has never been great, but as WR2 in Detroit, Megatron's scraps might be enough. Donald Brown is a good insurance policy for Joesph Addai's annual concussion. Team Impressions: Arizona: Manning finally gets a trade from the Marinos. the RB bench is pretty janky, lots of crappy halves of platoons. Might want to trade/drop for WR depth. MEMEME: Solid but unspectacular. My bench is apparently going to be the WR lottery. Need Flacco to break out. Boston: Great RBs, really shaky WRs. Need someone to replace Vincent Jackson for at least the first three games, maybe more, not sure if Austin Collie/Manningham is enough. Redbeards: Nice WR depth, not a fan of the RBs. Williams is still sharing carries, Forte regressed and will be pushed by Chester Taylor, the rest are lottery picks. Rodgers will probably win or lose games single handedly. Jersey: Nice all around team, could use an upgrade at RB2 maybe. Starting WRs are coming off disappointing years, need to do better this year. SF: Obvious weakness seems to be QB. WRs aren't spectacular but I don't see it being a problem. I wanted Garcon myself, I think he benifits the most from Wayne possibly slowing down. RBs are great of course. Poulsbo: Loser of the autopickerkicker derby this year. Starters look solid, as long as TO does better then last year. Kolb might be good trade bait later. Utah: Formidable QB and RBs, WR and TE may need help. RBs may help stabilize some of the Brees mood swings. Vancouver: Interesting draft strategy, practically ignoring RBs early to strengthen everything else. Potentially crazy good WR crew, if Derek Anderson can get Fitzgerald the ball. May have health issues at RB and have to shuffle people/waiver wire all season long. Victoria: Not too much confidence in the WR starters. RBs aren't spectacular, but Foster may be a break out starter. So yeah, that took forever. Have a good season folks, and I look forward to seeing exactly how wrong I will be, which I'm sure I'll chronicle exhaustively at the end of the year. |
I was thinking I should pick a QB at round 4 as it would be a long time before my turn would snake back and with several autopickers involved, if a QB run occurred I may have been screwed. It was basically a coin-flip between Palmer and Eli. I went with Palmer because I'm gambling the Batman and Robin combo at WR will pan out. I figure Matt Ryan's a decent backup option if Palmer blows up. |
Yeah, I'm not to happy with my tight end situation. We'll see how the first week goes, but I plan on looking for some replacements. |
I think Palmer could be a steal at the 4th round this year. If I had been there for the draft, he was going to be my QB if at all possible. I've been drafting Manning most years when I get a chance, but this year I made the choice not to...thankfully, the Outlaws autodrafted him right before me, so I got Peterson. We'll see how that pans out. Kolb is available for trading right now... I need WR and RB. "the concept that a happy worker is a productive worker is hardly an entry from Matt's Big Book Of Things The Fairies Said." - Dum
Kolb is an unknown quantity right now, I don't think there would be much value for him as he would be left riding the pine to see how he develops. Hold him and maybe he'll develop into a starter or could be useful to trade later. <Hugin_len> Basically, cheesy doesn't have awful taste in music, he's simply very white.
I can hope someone wants to bite early, no? I have no intention of dropping him as my bench is filled with maybes and hopefully so dudes. Heck, part of my starting lineup is that...
